Class was cancelled once again — for a supposed ice storm that really just ended up being RAIN! The northern states would be laughing at Texas right now. I spent my day off setting up a goodreads account full of non-fictions to delve into — check out my list on the sidebar. Also went out on a limb and joined a 6-week positive psychology workshop on Martin Seligman’s Authentic Happiness hosted by our psychology department! Will start a weekly post on it soon. My Top Good Reads (to read): Martin E.P. Seligman’s Authentic Happiness: Using the New Positive Psychology to Realize Your Potential for Lasting Fulfillment — taking an optimistic outlook on human emotion, Seligman explains the three pillars of positive psychology: emotions, traits, and institutions; and ties them into our quest for fulfillment.

Brené Brown’s Daring Greatly: How the courage to be vulnerable transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead features quotes from Teddy Roosevelt and words to live by. The Four-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the Rich – supposedly life-changing, Timothy Ferriss tries to convince us that we can achieve a dream almost too good to be true by following a few simple steps to increase productivity — have to buy the book first before buying into the idea!

Think all nutritional books are overrated? Reconsider. While looking up others’ thoughts on the provocative new wheat-slashing diet book, Wheat Belly, I came across an extensive list of book reviews from The American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Can’t forget to mention my meals for today! Made it to the dining hall this morning for an egg white omelette with a side of fruit and cup of yogurt, snacked on half a grapefruit and a chocolate brownie Slim Fast bar (one of my weird obsessions) before the run, but fell off the ladder with a less-than-great dinner and too much cocoa… Missed three too many days of my run log/food diary/one-sentence journal and need to get back to food tracking! Holding myself to it for Wednesday. Hoping for a better run (with less hail). Nearly halfway through!
